Laboratory

In cooperation with the Laboratory Medicine Darmstadt, owner Dr. medical S. Wehrenpfennig, we can offer you all common laboratory tests in our practice. The need for a laboratory test of blood, urine or stool will be discussed with you in a doctor's meeting.

Blood samples are taken in our doctor´s practice between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. every day. Please only appear for the blood collection after making an appointment. In order to take a blood sample, it is important that you remain sober from around 10 p.m. the evening before.

Our doctor´s practice provides suitable containers for urine and stool samples. Please label this legibly with your name and date of birth. The samples should not be older than one hour when they are handed in.

When taking a urine sample, it is important that the sample is taken from the central stream. To do this, drain half of the bladder filling into the toilet. Then fill the sample container up to a maximum of halfway and drain the remaining urine back into the toilet.

Langzeit – Blutdruckmessung

For long-term blood pressure measurement, you will receive a device that automatically measures your blood pressure at regular intervals for 24 hours (even while you sleep). It is comparable in size to a thicker mobile phone, which is hung around the neck like a key ring. A blood pressure cuff is attached to this device and is placed on the upper arm. The blood pressure values ​​are stored on the device and read out digitally by us if you return the device after 24 hours. In terms of the process, the doctor will discuss with you the need for a long-term survey. Then make an appointment with our staff and come to the system in the morning and bring the device back after 24 hours. After evaluating the collected data, we will contact you for another appointment.

This survey is used for early detection and monitoring of the progression of high blood pressure.

Do you feel unwell and would like to become active yourself?

If you suspect that your blood pressure is not correct, you can support us and note the abnormalities before your appointment. Use our complaints log for this. If you are able to measure your blood pressure yourself, document the values ​​recorded in our blood pressure protocol. We expressly recommend measuring devices to be placed on the upper arm, since the measuring accuracy is higher here.

Bring both documents with you to your doctor's appointment. This makes it easier to diagnose if you suspect blood pressure problems.

Ruhe – EKG

Electrodes are glued to the patient's chest to record a resting ECG. In addition, an electrode is attached to each extremity. The heart's current impulses are measured via the electrodes and output by a computer on a strip of paper or digitally in the well-known zigzag line. This measurement is called an electrocardiogram (ECG). During this examination, the patient lies or sits quietly on a couch.

The ECG examination can detect irregularities in the rhythm of the heartbeat and other heart diseases. If the findings are conspicuous, a long-term ECG or stress ECG can be arranged if necessary.

Ultrasound Examination

The ultrasound examination, also known as sonography, enables us to make your internal organs visible. For this purpose, ultrasound waves are sent into your body via a small transducer. In contrast to X-rays, these are completely harmless.

The sound waves are reflected by the organs, tissues and fluids in the body. The returning sound waves are evaluated by the connected computer and the organs and tissue are displayed as a live image on the screen. This allows organs to be examined, e.g. for tissue changes and other abnormalities. The ultrasound images can be saved and printed out for further treatment.

For the painless examination, a colorless gel is applied to the skin, which creates good contact between the skin and the transducer. The transducer is now guided over the area to be examined and the gel can then be wiped off again with a paper towel.
